From Lexington Kentucky, L. Kastle wrote his associate, "Friend Hartung" in New York city. The envelope is addressed to the Hartung family's hair importing business on Broadway, known simply as C.E. Hartung & Co. Kastle expressed his regrets that he would not be able to travel to New York "in the steamer" as soon as Hartung had wanted.
